How we measured: the download is the size of the official installer (the Content-Length of a HEAD request). The installed size of Rogue Code was read from the app installed on a Mac; for the others we added up the files listed in the official update archive each app downloads to update itself, read without installing anything. Claude only ships a universal Mac build (Intel and Apple silicon); the others are the Apple silicon builds. Electron shows up as the Electron Framework, or Electron's own files, inside each package.

Questions about Rogue Code and the others

What is the best AI app for coding?

It depends on how you work. Cursor and Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) pair a code editor with agents. Claude Code and Codex work in the terminal, in IDEs and in the Claude and ChatGPT desktop apps. Rogue Code is a native app made for building: you say the result you want, out loud or typed, and follow it in the live preview beside the chat, in an app of 367 MB.

What is Rogue Code?

Rogue's desktop app for coding with AI. You say or type what you want, and Rogue creates and revises the project in a folder on your computer, with the files and a live preview beside the chat. It runs on Macs with Apple silicon today, and Windows is on the way.

Does Rogue Code use Electron?

No. It's a native app written in Rust: 15 files and 367 MB installed, the agent engine included. Cursor, Devin Desktop, the Claude app and the ChatGPT app with Codex are built with Electron and take from 978 MB to 2,001 MB installed (measured on November 6, 2026).

Can I code with AI by voice?

Yes. In Rogue Code, hold ⌥ Space in any app, say what you want and let go: the request becomes a session and Rogue gets to work. The microphone is open only while the key is held, and speech is recognized on the Mac itself. The voice key works on macOS 26, and the request field also has a microphone for dictation.
